Kate Middleton attended an official event to mark St Patrick's Day with her husband William.

The event was the annual St Patrick's Day Parade of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards in Aldershot.

This was Kate's first time attending as Colonel of the regiment, taking over from Prince William.

William expressed his sadness in giving up the role, but praised Kate as a committed and loyal Colonel.

Kate wore a teal custom Catherine Walker coat and matching hat to the event.

Kate presented traditional sprigs of shamrock to officers, guardsmen, and the Irish wolfhound regimental mascot.

The parade concluded with a royal salute and march-past, with Kate taking the salute as the new Colonel.

The couple met with the Irish Guards Association, made up of past members of the Irish Guards.

The visit ended with William drinking a pint of Guinness and Kate nursing a half pint.
