Russell Westbrook will sign with the LA Clippers after completing a contract buyout.

The buyout with the Utah Jazz was for the remaining $47 million owed on his expiring deal.

On Monday, the Jazz waived Westbrook, who will join the Clippers.

Westbrook was willing to play a specific role for the Clippers.

Westbrook joins a Clippers core that has championship aspirations and includes his former teammate Paul George.

Westbrook selected the Clippers to win a championship and stay in Los Angeles after considering the Bulls, Wizards, and Heat.

Westbrook played 28.7 minutes per game with the Lakers as a sixth man, averaging 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists.

The Jazz prioritized playing their younger players and made no assurances on minutes or role size for Westbrook.

Westbrook is a nine-time All-Star guard and former NBA MVP.
